Over the past 5 years we have witnessed the emergence of collaborative, inter-disciplinary GLAM sector labs that herald the realignment of GLAMs with new communities of practise and commercial industries. More than simply seeking to address skills gaps and foster innovation and collaboration, GLAM labs and incubators such as DX Lab, ACMI X, and Mahuki are fundamentally changing sector relationships with the commercial and tertiary sectors. In South Australia the 4 leading GLAM institutions have jointly formed the North Terrace Cultural Innovations Hub. A GigCity high speed initiative with 10 gigabit fibre connections, the Hub facilitates new collaborative approaches to cultural and research practice and fosters new approaches to the production and dissemination of cultural knowledge and audience engagement. This paper will explore opportunities for research collaborations at the intersection of GLAM, the tertiary sector and the creative industries here in South Australia.
